Awarded Platinum Provider Status

Invisalign works by using a series of nearly invisible teeth-straightening custom-made aligners. They are designed to work around hectic lifestyles and are removable, making them more discreet than traditional braces.

Our Invisalign dentists plan the treatment to perfection using the latest 3D computer technology, and we can even show you the final result before committing. As you replace each aligner every two weeks, your teeth will move gradually towards the final projected position.

What is the Treatment Process?

  • Consultation: Your dentist will assess whether Invisalign is the right treatment option for you.
  • Records Sent to Invisalign: Once confirmed, your dentist will take x-rays and impressions of your teeth and send them to the Invisalign company. They will create a 3D rendering and a computer model showing how your teeth will move to the desired position.
  • Aligners: When your dentist is satisfied with the model, they will request the creation of your aligners. When the aligners are ready, you will be invited to the clinic for your fitting appointment.
  • Maintain Your Smile: To maintain your smile post-treatment, you will need to wear retainers at night time. This will prevent your teeth from shifting back to their original positions.

The Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign braces offer numerous benefits, including:

  • Improved Aesthetics: The use of clear aligners makes the treatment an incredibly discreet option in comparison to traditional braces.
  • Comfortable to wear: With no metal brackets or wires, Invisalign aligners are comfortable to wear.
  • Removable: The aligners are removable, allowing for easy teeth cleaning.
  • Predictable Treatment Plan: Through advanced 3D imaging, Invisalign provides a predictable treatment plan, ensuring precise results.
  • No Dietary Restrictions: The clear aligners can be removed for eating, meaning there’s no need to impose dietary restrictions.

Invisalign is Best For…

Invisalign is ideal for individuals looking for a discreet teeth straightening solution. Most people with minor to moderate tooth alignment issues can be treated with clear aligners.

While it’s particularly effective for treating slightly crooked teeth, Invisalign can also address slightly more complex orthodontic issues, such as dental crowding, minor overbites or underbites and small gaps between teeth.

During your initial consultation, your dentist will be able to assess your specific needs and determine if Invisalign is the right option for you.

Invisalign is Not Suitable For…

Invisalign may not be suitable for individuals with severe alignment problems. Due to its limited tooth movement capabilities, the treatment cannot offer the desired results for certain crowding or spacing issues.

In these cases, traditional fixed braces may be the most suitable option to achieve the best results.

Invisalign is also not appropriate for individuals with missing teeth and severe bite issues. To find out more about alternative treatment options, please get in touch.

Invisalign or Braces: What’s the Difference?

Invisalign and fixed braces are both orthodontic treatments used to straighten teeth, however, they differ slightly in their approach and appearance. Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners that are custom-made for each patient, offering a nearly invisible solution. They can also be removed for eating and cleaning.

Fixed braces, on the other hand, involve the use of metal or ceramic brackets, affixed to the teeth and connected by wires, providing constant, effective pressure to correct misalignment.

What Invisalign Can’t Fix

While Invisalign is a great option for many, it might not be as effective as traditional braces for certain complex orthodontic cases. For issues requiring significant tooth movement, fixed braces may be more suitable to achieve optimal results.

Invisalign may be less effective than conventional braces in treating:

  • Severely rotated teeth
  • Large gaps
  • Unusual tooth shape
  • Intrusions or extrusions
  • Severe overbite or underbite.

Invisalign Aftercare

After completing Invisalign treatment, proper aftercare is essential to maintain your stunning smile. This includes:

  • Wearing Your Retainers: Wear them as directed to prevent teeth from shifting back to their original positions.
  • Practice Good Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss regularly to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
  • Avoid Sticky or Hard Foods: These may damage your retainers.
  • Schedule Regular Check-Ups: This will allow your dentist to monitor your progress and address any concerns quickly.

We offer free Invisalign consultations with our Platinum-accredited Invisalign dentists in Kent. This can be arranged by contacting our Hythe or Ashford practices.

Some initial discomfort may be experienced when you change to the new Invisalign aligner, but this does not last long.

Treatment times vary and can take anything from 12-24 months depending on the complexity of the case.

Following the consultation, we can normally get the aligners ready within 3-4 weeks!

Invisalign straightens your teeth using a series of custom-made, clear aligners. They are designed to work around hectic lifestyles and are removable, making them more discreet than traditional braces. The treatment is planned using the latest 3D computer technology.

Other orthodontic methods such as metal/ceramic braces involve fixed appliances that straighten teeth to perfection. They do not need to be removed for eating, drinking, or brushing. There is no risk of losing them like removable trays. Traditional braces are better for those who may not be able to keep up with the high maintenance and care required by aligners.

A retainer must be worn at night time to prevent teeth from shifting back to their starting position. The retainer can correct minor movements following the treatment and is made using the latest 3D computer technology.
